Energy & Utilities training solutions
Your end users deserve job-specific training solutions which will help them achieve the maximum benefit from the new system.
A bespoke programme developed using your specific build and business processes, delivered by us or you.
Flexibility to cherry pick which training modules are developed in-house and which to outsource.
A confident, competent workforce, ready for go-live, maximising the return on investment.
Time for your project team to focus its attention elsewhere during the busy pre-go-live period.
Based on site, this user community needs to receive their training in one learning event. They may not have time to attend multiple training sessions and may see IT training as something which takes them away from their project obligations. The training must be aligned to a typical project with consolidation activities which mirror how the audience will use the ERP solution from go live.
If there is a high number of engineers then the most cost-effective option is for a member of the project team to cascade the training locally to them.
It is key that the training programme for these audiences closely links with sales initiatives and emphasises the customer experience. All consolidation activities need to be based on typical customer interactions.
Training for these audiences will be varied, possibly involving shorter hands-on classroom sessions for the Telesales teams.
A high number of the users in this workstream will be based onsite which poses challenges with scheduling training which must be both timely and pertinent.
Electing champions or super users (for example, by contract or property) would facilitate a cascade training approach which would not only provide training locally but also support for each site through the first weeks of go live.
There are different audiences in this workstream with different training requirements. The designer must not see the training programme as a disruption to their day job and it should be provided as modular classroom style sessions so they are not taken out of the business for too long.
The engineer/technician is typically field based so training on the mobile technology must be creative in its delivery. For example, this could be delivered pre or post shift or be in the form of a talking work instruction (video) which can be deployed for just-in-time training.
Timing for the training of finance users is paramount and cannot disrupt their end of month/quarter commitments. Your training programme should train on a build which will be familiar to the audience when they go live, introducing walkthroughs using your COA, approval hierarchy and data.
Classroom training is popular with these audiences, however, if the audiences are overseas, modular delivery across WebEx/Skype can be delivered in shorter durations.
HR works closely with the departmental administrators as well as recruitment. Their core system users are normally the HR administrators who will require hands-on training so they are competent for go live.
Users such as HR business partners and line manager approvers will not require classroom training but a short session on the core benefits, their role in the process and the functionality they are required to use.
We design bespoke training programmes which meet the diverse needs of the different user groups. This means having a variety of supporting materials and delivery methods which engage end users with timely, relevant content so they retain the information.
“One of the advantages of bringing in Optimum has been the trainer’s ability to deal with the exceptions encountered by staff to ensure that they fully understand the system. The tailored training materials provided by Optimum are now a real asset for Element going forward.”
Mike Harradence Regional controller
“Optimum’s lesson plans and documentation were very good and we are still using those same materials as we continue the rollout. We looked for a partner to develop the programme for us and give us a foundation to go forward from.”
Steve Matthew Vice president of IT
“Optimum took a large task off our shoulders and coped remarkably well in difficult circumstances. Once the courses were developed they could deliver them, including the administration, with very little impact on what was a very small WPD project team.”
